Cabbies, Service Dogs and Unneccesary Angst

For us?  Happens all the time in Boston and New York.  At Logan Airport, the security folks even had us wait OUTSIDE the line for a "special cab," and it took over 2 hours to find a cab to take us home to Cambridge.  They could care less if I was a service dog.  They did, however, charge us $20 more, because I sat with CL during the 10 minute drive home.

CL is not looking forward to returning to Boston in a wheelchair.  If they refuse service to a working dog, wonder how the cabbies at Logan Airport will treat a working dog and a woman living life on wheels?

Where exactly would you sit if not with CL? On the roof? In the trunk? Would you run alongside the vehicle? Jeesh!

I second Mango's "motion".

Mom made a brochure about me to give to people like that that explains it is illegal to charge more (unless the service dog causes damage), it is illegal to make you wait in a separate area (unless you asked).
We also make sure we have the local non-emergency police number of the city we are in so we can call if the person breaks the law.
So sorry you had to go through this. We have never had to call the police, but we have had some heated situations where people wanted to charge more or not allow access.

Khyra's right. Mango can floof on them and Loki can, um, show his teeth (and then run...)
