Last night, the dog house was "bizarro world." Crazy lady doesn't like drama, especially pack politics. She understands that everyone was missing their mom and feeling anxious. Boomer waited by the front door, Phoebe hung out near the back door, and Popeye...Well, Popeye was, to quote crazy lady, "a little sh*t." He picked a fight with every dog in the household, and forced Boomer to leave his spot under the table. He tried to eat FIRST (bad dog!) and snapped at crazy lady when she told him "go to bed." If Boomer, Phoebe or myself tried to get close to crazy lady, Popeye blocked us. He even growled at me! Absolutely unacceptable behavior. Crazy lady thought that Popeye wasn't feeling well and she was ready to rush him to the emergency vet. (Yeah, I know, she overreacts...) Isis' mom walked crazy lady "off the ledge," and they concluded that maybe Popeye was feeling insecure because his own mom was gone and he was on a different schedule. We tried to keep his mom's schedule, but crazy lady and I wake-up in the wee hours of the morning. Isis' mom thinks our early hours totally messed with Popeye's mind. So, crazy lady corrected his bad behavior, but otherwise decided to ignore Popeye. It was hard to do-- he kept leaning against her legs, stealing Boomer's bed, and hiding under her dress! Finally, Boomer reclaimed his bed and the spot under the table, and everything has returned to a peaceful and quiet existence.I understand their confusion and anxiety. I miss crazy lady, when she is gone. Thank goodness the world has returned to "normal" this morning, and I can gaze outside the front window without interruptions and fights.

Sounds of silence
We're housesitting the dogs this week. William is staying with Isis and her family since he needs to be "snipped" on Friday. Unlike our last adventure, the household has been calm and quiet. After the hectic past weeks, crazy lady is relieved to have a house filled with silence. Do you know what we do, while she works? Popeye guards the couch:Boomer watches crazy lady from under the living room table:Phoebe insists on cleaning her computer, in between naps:And me? I cause trouble:

A bit of crazy
Crazy lady has had a death in the family, so she is headed to Austin TX to help her sister. I am staying with my foster momma Judy, and William is headed to Isis' parents. The thing about William? He LOVES to put anything in his mouth:Crazy lady came out of the shower and found me by the door. I tried to tell her, "It wasn't me!" but she doesn't speak dog. When she looked past the bathroom, she saw all of the blankets piled in the middle of the floor, along with toys, his kennel bed, and my bed! Do you know where William was hiding? Under the pile of blankets, beds and toys. He was eating plastic, and trying to be sneaky. Ha! He doesn't know crazy lady too well, does he? She was able to open his clenched jaw and remove the plastic, along with string, pine cones, and gook. He still tried to eat his favorite blanket:Sneaky dufess, huh?Me? I'm perfect.Okay, only when he is NOT trying to steal my pink worm.Enjoy your time with Isis and Otis, William. I will be waiting for you, when crazy lady returns...

Hour One, Day One
"Shy? You really think I'm shy?""I don't care, dufuss. These are MINE. You may have sucked up to crazy lady with your love of cheese and playful puppy behavior within five minutes-- but these are MINE.""Hahaha...that's what you think. Look at my German Shepard and Golden Retriever loveliness. I may look like a fool, but I am a smart fool.""See? This FROG is MINE, bitch.""MY FROG, she-dog. Oh, and the name is WILLIAM, not dufuss.""MY FROG! You messed with the wrong dog, DUFUSS!""SIT." (oh crap, crazy lady looks irritated.)

California Sunnin'
Seriously? This is the best picture you could take of me, sunning myself on the deck?
Or this? Looking like I ate too many "special brownies?"You tempt fate, crazy lady. Especially since a new Taiwan foster pup arrives tomorrow afternoon:He's shy, he's cute, he's fluffy, and he is ALL MINE for Formosan Mountain Dog (FMD) payback:Yes, MINE to play and plot FMD revenge for underwear head, diets, bunnies and -- now-- indecent, private grooming shots. He will fall under the "Sugar spell," and follow my lead. You only had 1 FMD to worry about...after tomorrow, there will be 2 of us...just you wait...

A new trend?
I feel Popeye's pain:Read the story on his blog. Crazy lady will pay for this torment. She has messed with the wrong Formosan Mountain Dogs!

Zero Dignity
This is not my fault:This is the result of 99 degree heat, an extremely loud air conditioner, and my fearful behavior of loud noises:Yes, that is crazy lady's ex-boyfriend's underwear on my head. Tied on top with a hair band, to hold it in place. Wanna see a close-up?How many ways can she torment me? I suspect her ingenious idea is payback for the pet cemetery in our back yard.

Twilight Bambi
I'm patiently watching Bambi jump the fence, in the early evening. Waiting for crazy lady to give the "okay" to munch Bambi for dinner. Yeah, like THAT will ever happen, again...

Home Sweet Home
Ah, California...don't get me wrong, Cambridge is a nice place to visit. I even learned to love the snow, uptight people, Haar-vaard snarkiness, and freaky dog rules. I especially enjoyed visiting children's hospitals the past month. Crazy lady would read from her Delores & Hannah series, and I would snuggle with the kids. But, there's nothing like coming home:I spent at least 2 hours sniffing the property, and warning Bambi away from the fence line. United did a wonderful job, this time-- they even gave me water and a bathroom break, when we arrived at SFO! Crazy lady suspects that the new animal policy is the reason for their excellent care. I suspect they feared the wrath of crazy lady. Regardless, it was an uneventful trip, and we're home!

Happy Birthday Popeye!
One year ago, Popeye entered our lives and the amazing care of my foster mamma, Judy. Crazy lady likes to call him the Little Dude because he reminds her of a sneaky cowboy hangin' out at a whorehouse. She has no idea what prompts this image of Popeye in her mind-- but do you see why I call her crazy lady? There's a great article about Popeye and Judy in the newspaper here. You can also read more about Popeye on his web site and blog. Here's a picture of Popeye with some visitors from Taiwan last year:He has since had surgery to remove his paralyzed legs, and he is a demon in his wheelchair! You should definitely check out his videos. He is simply AMAZING.
Oh well, we leave for California in the wee hours of Sunday morning. See you on the West Coast!
